The Woman A like Breast Cancer Society of Pictou County, Nova Scotia was formed in 1995 which lead to ABreastARiver Dragon Boat Team forming in 1999. 

With the support of the community, ABreastARiver would become the first team east of Montreal to purchase their very own dragon boat.

The team is actively involved in raising the public awareness of breast cancer and helping women living with breast cancer understand that they can lead full, active lives despite the physical and mental limitations imposed by this disease.

“We are your mothers, your sisters, your daughters, your aunts, your grandmothers, your friends.  Breast cancer affects us all.  Our goal is to promote a message of hope and health for all those living and coping with this disease.”
